Easy Baked Candied Yams


When I think of big holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas, I think of certain dishes. And one of them is my family’s yams recipe. We make them with sliced sweet potatoes that you can get from your grocer’s frozen food section. You can also use fresh sweet potatoes, but this busy mom likes the idea of using pre-sliced pre-cooked sweet potatoes. That way, I can still get a delicious and savory dish without spending more time in the kitchen than I’d like.


Bag of sliced frozen sweet potatoes or 2 size medium sweet potatoes
Butter or margarine
Brown sugar


Pre-heat over to 375 degrees

Place sweet potatoes in a pan (pan size depends on the number of sweet potatoes)
Cover sweet potatoes with cinnamon
Pour a moderate amount of vanilla over the sweet potatoes
Cover sweet potatoes with cinnamon again
Place 1 tsp of butter on top of each sweet potato slice
Cover the dish with foil
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until soft.

Serving size: 6 frozen slices
